Parking, Rear and License Plate Lamps

B10F3:11 Left Front Position Light: Circuit Short to Ground Sets when the BCM detects a short to ground from the LH rear side marker lamp output circuit.
B10F3:15 Left Front Position Light: Circuit Short to Battery or Open Sets when the BCM detects an open from the LH rear side marker lamp output circuit.
B10F4:11 Right Front Position Light: Circuit Short to Ground Sets when the BCM detects a short to ground from the RH rear side marker lamp output circuit.
B10F4:15 Right Front Position Light: Circuit Short to Battery or Open Sets when the BCM detects an open from the RH rear side marker lamp output circuit.
B1445:11 Rear Park Lamps Output: Circuit Short to Ground

Sets when the BCM detects a short to ground from:

  • the license plate lamps output circuit on vehicles not equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp)
  • the license plate and decklid parking lamps output circuit on vehicles equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp)
B1445:15 Rear Park Lamps Output: Circuit Short to Battery or Open

Sets when the BCM detects an open from:

  • the license plate lamps output circuit on vehicles not equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp)
  • the license plate and decklid parking lamps output circuit on vehicles equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp)
B1446:11 Front Park Lamps Output: Circuit Short to Ground Sets when the BCM detects a short to ground from the front parking lamps output circuit.
B1446:15 Front Park Lamps Output: Circuit Short to Battery or Open Sets when the BCM detects an open from the front parking lamps output circuit.


Possible Sources


PINPOINT TEST A : ONE OR MORE PARKING, REAR, OR LICENSE PLATE LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE
A1   DETERMINE IF ALL THE PARKING LAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.

Are all the parking lamps inoperative?

Yes GO to A15
No For front parking and cornering lamps, GO to A3
For rear parking, side marker and license plate lamps on vehicles not equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp), GO to A2
For rear parking, side marker and license plate lamps on vehicles equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp), GO to A11 (If only the rear parking lamp or only the rear side marker lamp is inoperative, install and new rear lamp assembly.
REFER to: Rear Lamp Assembly - Vehicles With: 4-Door (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).

A2   CHECK THE STOPLAMPS
  • Ignition ON.
  • Observe the rear parking and license plate lamps.
  • Apply the brake pedal and observe the rear parklamps/stoplamps.

Are the stoplamps inoperative?

Yes
REFER to: Stoplamps (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Diagnosis and Testing).
No For rear parking lamps only inoperative, GO to A15
For rear side marker and license plate lamps, GO to A7


A3   CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE FRONT PARKING AND CORNERING LAMP
  • Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative LH Headlamp C1509A.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative RH Headlamp C1510A.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.
  • Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

Yes For a front park lamp, CHECK the lamp harness for open or shorted circuits and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the harness is not OK, REPAIR the harness. If the harness is OK, INSTALL a new bulb.
For a front cornering lamp, CHECK the lamp harness for open or shorted circuits and damaged or pushed-out pins. If the harness is not OK, REPAIR the harness. If the harness is OK, INSTALL a headlamp assembly.
REFER to: Headlamp Assembly (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).
No REPAIR the circuit.


A5   CHECK THE PARKING AND CORNERING LAMP SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
  • Measure:

      LH Front Park and Cornering Lamp

  • Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes GO to A15
No REPAIR the circuit.


A7   CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SIDE MARKER OR LICENSE PLATE LAMP (NOT EQUIPPED WITH DECKLID PARKING LAMPS)
  • Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative License Plate Lamp C490.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative LH Rear Lamp C412.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative RH Rear Lamp C415.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.
  • For a rear side marker lamp, measure:

For a license plate lamp, INSTALL a new bulb.
No REPAIR the circuit.


A9   CHECK THE REAR PARKING OR LICENSE PLATE LAMP SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND (NOT EQUIPPED WITH DECKLID PARKING LAMPS)
  • Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280F (License Plate Lamps).
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280D (Rear Side Marker Lamps).
  • For a rear side marker lamp, measure:

      LH Rear Lamp


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

  • Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative License Plate Lamp C490.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative LH Rear Lamp C412.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative RH Rear Lamp C415.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative LH Decklid Parking Lamp (part of reversing lamp) C487.
  • Disconnect: Inoperative RH Decklid Parking Lamp (part of reversing lamp) C488.
  • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps on position.
  • For a rear and side marker lamp, measure:

No REPAIR the circuit.


A13   CHECK THE PARKING/SIDE MARKER OR LICENSE PLATE LAMP SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND (EQUIPPED WITH DECKLID PARKING LAMPS)
  • Place the headlamp switch in the off position.
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280F (License Plate and Decklid Parking Lamps).
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280D (Rear Parking and Side Marker Lamps).
  • For a rear and side marker lamp, measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes GO to A15
No REPAIR the circuit.


A15   CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
  • Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM .
REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) (419-10 Multifunction Electronic Modules, Removal and Installation).
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).



The Parking, Rear, Or License Plate Lamps Are On Continuously

Sets when the BCM detects an a short to voltage from:

  • the license plate lamps output circuit on vehicles not equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp)
  • the license plate and decklid parking lamps output circuit on vehicles equipped with decklid parking lamps (part of reversing lamp)
B1446:15 Front Park Lamps Output: Circuit Short to Battery or Open Sets when the BCM detects a short to voltage from the front parking lamps output circuit.
B1447:11 Parklamp On Switch Input: Circuit Short to Ground Sets when the BCM detects a short to ground on the parklamps on input circuit.


Possible Sources


PINPOINT TEST B : THE PARKING, REAR, OR LICENSE PLATE LAMPS ARE ON CONTINUOUSLY
B1   CHECK THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) PARKING LAMP OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280B (For front parking lamps).
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280F (For license plate lamps on vehicles not equipped with decklid parking lamps).
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280D (For rear side marker lamps on vehicles not equipped with decklid parking lamps).
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280F (For license plate and decklid parking lamps on vehicles equipped with decklid parking lamps).
  • Disconnect: BCM C2280D (For rear parking and side marker lamps on vehicles equipped with decklid parking lamps).
  • Ignition ON.

Do the parking lamps continue to illuminate?

Yes REPAIR the affected parking lamp output circuit.
No GO to B2


B2   CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
  • Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
