Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Belt

Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTICE: Under no circumstances should the accessory drive belt, tensioner or pulleys be lubricated as potential damage to the belt material and tensioner damping mechanism will occur. Do not apply any fluids or belt dressing to the accessory drive belt or pulleys.

  1. Remove the RH side fender splash shield.
    Refer to: Fender Splash Shield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).
  1. NOTE: Typical application shown.

    1. By turning the crankshaft pulley bolt clockwise, feed the Stretchy Belt Tool on to the crankshaft pulley approximately 90 degrees.
      Install Special Service Tool : 303-1419 Remover, 3.5L / 3.7L Stretchy Belt
    1. Fold the Stretchy Belt Tool under the inside of the A/C compressor belt as shown.
    1. In one quick motion, firmly pull the Stretchy Belt Remover out of the RH fender well, removing the A/C compressor belt.

Installation

  1. NOTE: Typical application shown.

    NOTE: After installation, make sure the A/C compressor belt is correctly seated on the crankshaft and the A/C compressor pulleys.

    Position the A/C compressor belt onto the A/C compressor pulley and around the Stretchy Belt Installer Tool on the crankshaft pulley. Make sure that the belt is engaged with the crankshaft pulley and rotate the crankshaft clockwise to install the A/C compressor belt.

  1. Install the RH side fender splash shield.
